1. Introduction
Welcome to SafeShot! Your privacy and security are our top priorities. This Privacy Policy explains how SafeShot handles your data when you use our camera app with privacy-protection features.
2. Information We Collect
SafeShot does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All processing occurs entirely on your device.
Camera and Face Detection
SafeShot uses on-device face detection to apply privacy-protecting filters such as blur effects or emoji overlays to faces in photos and videos. Face detection is performed entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework.
We do not collect, store, or transmit any facial recognition data, biometric information, or personally identifiable information from face detection. Face location data exists only temporarily in device memory during camera use and is immediately discarded after processing each frame.
3. How We Use Your Information
SafeShot processes camera data in real-time for the following purposes:
- Face Privacy Protection: Detecting face locations to apply blur or emoji overlays
- Background Blur: Detecting people for portrait mode effects
- Voice Modification: Processing audio in real-time to apply voice effects (pitch shifting, robotic effects)
- Photo/Video Capture: Saving processed photos and videos to your device's photo library
All processing happens on your device. No data is transmitted to external servers.
4. Data Storage and Retention
- Face Detection Data: Face bounding box coordinates are retained only for the duration of processing a single camera frame (milliseconds) and are never saved to persistent storage.
- Photos and Videos: Your captured photos and videos are saved to your device's photo library under your control. SafeShot does not have access to these files after saving.
- App Preferences: Basic app settings (such as whether you've completed onboarding) are stored locally on your device using iOS UserDefaults.
5. Third-Party Services
SafeShot does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The app operates completely offline and does not communicate with external servers.
The only external frameworks used are:
- Apple Vision Framework: For on-device face and person detection
- Apple AVFoundation: For camera and audio processing
- Apple Photos Framework: For saving to your photo library
6. Permissions Required
SafeShot requires the following permissions to function:
- Camera Access: To capture photos and videos with privacy effects
- Microphone Access: To record audio with optional voice modification in videos
- Photo Library Access: To save captured photos and videos
You can revoke these permissions at any time in iOS Settings. SafeShot will not function without camera access but will continue to work without microphone or photo library access (with limited functionality).
7. Data Security
Since SafeShot does not collect or transmit data, there is no risk of data breaches or unauthorized access to your information. All processing occurs locally on your device using Apple's secure frameworks.
8. Children's Privacy
SafeShot does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app is safe for users of all ages.
9. Your Rights
Since SafeShot does not collect or store personal data, there is no data to access, modify, or delete. You have complete control over:
- Photos and videos saved to your device (manageable through iOS Photos app)
- App permissions (manageable through iOS Settings)
- The app itself (can be deleted at any time)
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or legal requirements. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
